Rosa is the owner/operator of this Estate Farm, located in the Gera woreda of Agaro, Jimma. Interestingly, Rosa is growing a specific variety “74110” different to the typical ‘heirloom’ varieties grown by co-operatives. Officially released in 1979, the 74110 varietal is a high yielding, coffee berry disease (CBD) resistant strain. Using a Colombian manufactured Penagos depulper, they reduce water consumption by 95% compared with traditional channel washing techniques. This allows them to control their processing and fermentation with grater accuracy.

We believe in the future of coffee so we’re publishing the price we pay for coffee, so farmers don’t need to turn to other crops. We’ve listed the FOB (Freight on Board) price we paid to the exporter. We weren’t able to get the breakdown of Farmgate pricing before publication in this instance. On top of FOB, this coffee was shipped to Melbourne, quality assessments completed, roasted (resulting in a 15% weight loss), & retailed, adding significant costs. You can read more about the way we source coffee via our website.
