Eulino José de Novais has been growing coffee at Fazenda Santa Bárbara since the early 1980s, when he planted 4,000 coffee seedlings, two plants per hole, on his land. He farms with the help of his whole family and everyone has their own area of expertise. Over the years he has increased his production to a total of 20,000 coffee plants. A cup of excellence winner in 2009, he is committed to producing outstanding coffees. His 15 hectare farm sits at around 1350 metres above sea level near the town of Piatã in the dramatic Chapada Diamantina region (part of the northern state of Bahia). Conditions are ideal for coffee growing with temperatures ranging between two and 18 degrees Celsius on average.
