Maywal (also known as Maakiou) is a coffee farm located in both Kiambu Country and Nairobi City County, separated by the Riara river. The estate was originally established by a Greek couple during the pre colonial period and changed hands in 1974 when it was acquired by its current owners. This lot contains two varietals specific to Kenya - SL28 and SL34 - which were developed in the 1930s for their drought resistant qualities. SL28 is highly sought after for the striking blackcurrent flavours which are inheritant in many Kenya Coffees. In preperation for next years harvest Seven Seeds roaster, Kc, will be in Kenya this August to catch up with some of the producers.
