Important Update - December Shipping

Following the Black Friday sales and ahead of the Christmas rush period, we are seeing delays with freight through Australia Post.

Unfortunately this is due to the volume of parcels in their network and it is outside of our control.

We will continue to send orders within 1-2 business days as always. For urgent coffee needs, we recommend ordering for pick up from our Fairfield Roastery or visiting a Seven Seeds Cafe.

There's a youthful adventurousness to this part of the coffee world, and this offering from Bekele Belaycho is a wonderful representation of that spirit.

Sourcing

PRODUCER: Bekele Belaycho
PARTNERS: CoQua
HISTORY: Fourth year of purchasing

This high-altitude, sun-dried natural coffee promises an unforgettable experience. Its process-driven flavors blend perfectly with the care and precision of Bekele's production. There's a youthful adventurousness to this part of the coffee world, and this offering is a wonderful representation of that spirit. Expect over-the-top summer fruit notes with a smoothly sweet finish.

In the grand scheme of things, the Bensa Highlands in Sidama could be considered a younger sibling in the birthplace of coffee. Until 2019, Sidama was a zone within the SNNPR (Southern Nations, Nationalities, and People's Region). However, after a vote, the zone broke away and established itself as the tenth recognized region in Ethiopia. The Bensa Highlands, from where this lot originates, have experienced climate changes over the last fifty years that have created ideal conditions for coffee growing. Much of the industry here is no more than twenty years old. The high altitude means limited access to water for cherry processing, resulting in a preference for naturally processed lots.

It is an area where coffee is fueling significant change, and we are delighted to be a part of that journey.

Transparency

2018 marked a statement of intent for us, to ensure that people growing exceptional coffee are still doing so in decades to come.

We started publishing the price we pay to producers exposing the traceability they deserve and discerning drinkers' demand as the new norm. We refer to the most direct payment as ‘Farmgate’.

We’re proud we can publish this for our single origins and house blends.

Seven Seeds has been involved with the Speciality Coffee Transaction Guide as data donors for the past five years. We have signed 'The Pledge', a commitment to transparency in coffee trading.

Roasting and Shipping

We roast our coffee from Monday to Friday, but not every type each day. We aim to ship orders within 1-2 business days.

Roasted coffee reaches it's peak 5-14 days after roasting and stays fresh for up to 30 days. We may send coffee roasted a few days earlier.

The Roastery and Head Office are closed on weekends and public holidays; we do not roast or ship these days.

Thanks for understanding and happy brewing!
