Over $2,700 raised
In November last year Honduras was hit by two hurricanes in three weeks. Hurricane Eta and Hurricane Iota devastated local communities and left people homeless in areas already severely affected by Covid-19.
Our friend Benjamin Paz, and Kevin Bohlin (Saint Frank Coffee) quickly mobilised, organising a Go Fund Me to relocate and rebuild homes for displaced families with new water, power and mountain road infrastructure.
With the final release of our Honduran coffees for the season, Franklin Madrid, bought through Benjamin Paz - we decided to donate $2 for every bag of coffee sold.
Their initial goal of $75,000 was reached, and donations now total over $100,000. As of March the 3rd, they have already spent $30,000 to purchase 20 acres of land for a new settlement. The next project is provide clean water and safe power supply for these families.
So, it's a big thank you from us for purchasing Franklin Madrid's coffee. We're proud to work with Benjamin Paz, going beyond the transactional and business side of coffee to support the community.
