Mukunga Estate, Kenya, returns to Seven Seeds for a second year. This AA-grade blew us away last year and continues to impress this year, landing at a respectable 88 points. Available online and in-store from today, we hope you take the opportunity to enjoy this fantastic release.

Mukunga Estate is situated in Githunguri, Kiambu county, an area our Head of Roastery, Ryan, was fortunate to visit earlier this year. The high elevation of 1850 to 1880 masl contributes to ideal conditions for cultivating top-quality coffee, which is clearly evident in this lot. Fruit-driven and wild, with flavours of ripe berries, crisp green apple and rhubarb, Mukunga Estate continues to be one of the best examples of Kenyan coffee we've encountered.

Farm owner-operator Hanner Wanjiku Mukunga focuses on quality-oriented processing. Approximately 90% of the trees at Mukunga Estate are SL-28, and the remaining are Ruiru-11. Most coffee trees on the farm were planted in the 1970s and still generate outstanding fruit. Hanner selectively handpicks ripe red cherry and processes it on the estate using his own wet mill, allowing for full traceability. This aligns with our vision of building long-term relationships through repeat purchasing, allowing us to bring you unique coffees offered nowhere else in the country.
