Our Brazil shipment has arrived, packed with remarkable gems. We're kicking things off with the first of three Santuario Sul coffees sourced this year: a well-rounded Bourbon boasting rich notes of chocolate and fudge, and a zesty acidity.
This marks the first time we've procured this all-Bourbon lot from renowned producer Luiz Paulo. We found it beautifully structured, with rich texture and plump, well-rounded flavours, all coming together in a coffee perfect for espresso brewing.
Santuario Sul was founded by Luiz Paulo Dias Pereira in 2015 with a vision to challenge the global perception of Brazilian coffee through experimental processing techniques and a wider selection of cultivars. In addition to classic Brazilian varieties like Yellow Bourbon, the farm cultivates more than 30 exotic coffee varieties. Progressive cultivation practices, such as shade plantation, combined with innovative drying processes, contribute to distinctive and exciting flavours.
Since its inception, Santuario Sul has earned recognition in the Brazil Cup of Excellence competition, securing placements for four consecutive years since 2018. Most notably, in 2021, Luiz’s naturally processed Yellow Bourbon achieved an impressive second-place finish with a remarkable score of 90.14 points This is a testament to his endless dedication to the industry.
A true pioneer, Luiz Paulo continues to push boundaries, and we at Seven Seeds feel incredibly privileged to have access to his exceptional coffee. It’s an honour to work with him and his team at Carmo Coffees.
